The fourth stage of our pilgrimage saw us up in the neighboring village to Kamo, Aba, our numbers swollen by former hikers returning to the course and joined by Ana, a keen backcountry hiker. The holy sites in this area are spread over the greatest distance of our pilgrimage so far, traversing the steepest hills and mountains we have yet seen. This left us one weary bunch of devotees and called for the cars to cover the final handful of sites on our route for the day. The steaming hot spring in Aba beckoned irresistibly, as our band went their separate ways to soak away the aches of our day.
